Effective April 1, 2010, all foreign residents will be required to demonstrate proof of enrollment in the Employee Health Insurance (EHI) or National Health Insurance (NHI) program in order to renew or apply for a visa.

Enrollment in an expatriate health insurance plan is not sufficient. Employers should review the status of their expatriate employees to determine whether they are compliant.
