TO ALL JHRS MEMBERS, FRIENDS, AND SUPPORTERS:

We are very excited to inform you that there will be some amazing changes that will happen soon to The HR Agenda, Japan's first & only bilingual HR magazine, and to the JHRS community as a whole as well.

    The HR Agenda Goes Hybrid!
After more than a month of consultations and feed back gathering from our key stakeholders (e.g., JHRS members, officers, and institutional partners as well as advertisers), the JHRS Board of Advisers and its Executive Committee is pleased to announce that The HR Agenda Magazine will go hybrid starting from its January-March 2013 issue!

"Hybrid" in the sense that 3 out of 4 issues of the magazine will be digital/web version-only while the Anniversary Issue (Jul-Sep) will be in print and digital/web versions to accommodate the print advertising needs of our advertisers as well as for distribution to various domestic and international HR conferences JHRS and The HR Agenda are media partners with.

As you can read from the feedback summary, the sentiment amongst our JHRS Community is almost equally split but the factors that tipped the balance were: alignment to the Green HR advocacy of JHRS and costs (and even time) considerations.

JHRS/The HR Agenda App for iPhone, iPad, and Android

In order to support the changes in the magazine's delivery format, we will be developing iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android apps as well as HTML5 (mobile site) compatibility not only for the magazine but also for JHRS major programs and services such as HR News, AskHR, HR Legal Clinic, JHRS Events, Polls, and many more. We are targeting the app's release in early to mid-January 2013 so stay tuned for further announcements.

Initially, we are planning to make JHRS/HRA app and the inaugural digital-only issue of the magazine FREE for downloads in all formats (PDF, iPhone, iPad, Android, Web, Flip Book, etc.) in order to further build up the magazine's critical mass of subscribers/readers and make the magazine truly viral. Hopefully, this will help further increase the magazine's visibility not only in Japan but also worldwide!

However, past/archived issues of the magazine will remain for paid subscriptions only in order to be fair with our paying JHRS members and subscribers.

Moving forward, we may also continue to offer the digital/web versions of the magazine for FREE depending on our ability to have someone sponsor its future issues. If you are interested in becoming one of our sponsors, feel free to get in touch with us at hragenda@jhrs.org.

Exciting Times Ahead: The possibilities (and opportunities) are infinite

The magazine' primary mission remains the same: "To provide up-to-date and relevant sources of HR information and resources affecting and influencing the HR profession in Japan."

We will maintain the high level of editorial content and visual/design standards you and our thousands of readers have come to like about The HR Agenda and our move towards a "hybrid" delivery format will help us achieve this mission and live to our reputation as Japan's first and only bilingual and world-class HR publication.

We are truly living in an unprecedented but exciting times for us and our organizations. As HR professionals, we are tasked not only respond to "change" but sometimes, create "change" itself to be true or authentic to our values and principles while balancing the economic and environmental needs of our operations. With this bold but calculated move of going hybrid for The HR Agenda, we achieved a trifecta.

So, sit back, relax, and continue to enjoy The HR Agenda served in both traditional and Web 2.0 platforms and explore the infinite possibilities and opportunities ahead. STAY TUNED!

Again, thank you very much for your kind patronage to The HR Agenda and your continued support to the JHRS Community as a whole.

On behalf of the JHRS Board of Advisers and the Executive Committee and The HR Agenda Editorial Team,

    Jun Pic
